September 2015 – Jazz Guitar News

Rick Stone Trio with Marco Panascia (bass) and Joe Strasser (drums) from our 8/7/15 performance at the Bar Next Door.  Recorded by Live Jazz NYC.

Greetings Friend!

Where did the summer go?  For me it was an eventful one; I played memorable gigs at the Bar Next Door (NYC) and Nighttown (Cleveland) celebrating the completion of my 60th orbit around the planet.  That’s 350,040,000,000 miles by my calculations (now where can I go to get some “frequent flyer” miles for those?).  I owe a real heart-felt thanks to the many good friends who came out for those events and to Live Jazz NYC for recording and posting video of the Bar Next Door gig.

On the teaching front, I published my first ebook and the response has been incredible.  Over 1,500 downloads so far!  You can still get it for FREE at my site JazzGuitarLessons.com.  I’ve also recorded and posted a bunch of new videos to the lessons there.

Now I’m back into my Fall teaching mode and am getting pretty busy at the college, but still have room in my schedule for a few private students here at my home studio.  Please contact me privately if you’re interested in lessons.  I also teach via Skype.  rickstone@rickstone.com

Upcoming Gigs:

Saturday, September 12th from 6-9pm with vocalist Sandy Sasso at the 55 Bar, 55 Christopher Street, NYC

Sunday, September 13th from 7-10pm with vocalist Sandy Sasso at the Tides, 408 7th Street, Asbury Park, NJ

Thursday, September 17th from 6-10pm, Rick Stone Trio with Harvie S (bass) and Jason Tiemann (drums) at the Garage, 99 7th Avenue South, NYC.  We’re counting down our last four gigs at this venue which has been our regular home for the last 9 years but unfortunately will be closing at the end of December.  We’ve made a lot of great friends there and many have come to listen and sometimes sit in.  We invite you to join us for these last few months and meanwhile, we continue to search for a new home.

A Special Offer:

Rick Stone_Blues For Nobody cover 88pxlThis year marked the 30th Anniversary of my first album (that’s right, a vinyl album, remember those?) Blues For Nobody.  I still have a very limited quantity of the original pressing of these and am saving them for someone who really wants them.  They are extremely  rare and I’ve decided to offer them as a package with all 5 of my CD releases for $100. I’ll also sign them if you like. There are only 20 of these and when they’re gone, they’re gone.  Email me privately if you’re interested.
