Lots of great things happening in June. The weather is beautiful and I’m finally enjoying having some time to write and play guitar out in my garden. All good things must come to an end, and so did the Desmond’s jazz brunch, but it was fun while it lasted. I had a great time playing with Tim Regusis (piano), John Ray (bass) plus vocalists Jerry Costanzo, Stan Edwards, Shana Bush, Kelly Sutterfield and the many others who sat in. Many thanks to promoter Lenny Triola for hosting us and the many friends who came to enjoy some music on a Sunday afternoon.
Some gigs coming up this month:
Monday, June 9th from 8-11pm, with Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks at Iguana, 240 West 54th Street (between 8th Avenue and Broadway).
Tuesday, June 10th from Noon-1:30pm, the Rick Stone Trio performs at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, East 47th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue. Rick Stone (guitar), Marco Panascia (bass) and Diego Voglino (drums). This is an outdoor gig and subject to cancellation in event of rain (in which case, it’s usually rescheduled for the next day).
Tuesday, June 17th from 8-11pm, with Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks at Iguana, 240 West 54th Street (between 8th Avenue and Broadway).
Thursday June 19th from 6-10pm the Rick Stone Trio with Harvie S (bass) and TBA (drums) is back at the Garage, 99 7th Avenue South (at Grove Street).
Wednesday, June 25th from 7-10pm Carol Leven (vocals), Rick Stone (guitar), and Barry Kornhauser (cello) at Moda Espresso Bar, 234 West 27th Street.
I’ll be going back to my hometown for a 40th class reunion and will be performing that same weekend on Sunday, August 3rd at Nighttown in Cleveland Heights. Stay tuned for details.
