Hi and welcome to the new RickStone.com site. Between teaching, gigs and working on my websites it’s been a really busy year! But summer is here and I’m looking forward to spending more time practicing, writing, working on my websites, and of course spending some time in my garden!
The new JazzGuitarLessons.com site is almost ready to be launched, meanwhile Skype lessons are going strong. As well as the Rick Stone Trio’s regular gigs at the Garage, we played a couple nice gigs at a great little place in Brooklyn called Cafe Lore. I’m also playing a regular jazz brunch with vocalist Jerry Costanzo every Sunday from 1-4pm at Desmond’s (West 38th between Broadway and 7th Ave).
I’ll be going back to my hometown for a 40th class reunion and will be performing that same weekend on Sunday, August 3rd at Nighttown in Cleveland Heights. Stay tuned for details.
I unfortunately had to cancel my April 11th Bar Next Door appearance at the last minute due to a bad case of the flu. Those who attended should not have been too disappointed though as they were treated to a great evening of jazz by the excellent guitarist Randy Napoleon. The Rick Stone Trio will be back at the Bar Next Door on August 8th though, with Harvie S (bass) and Joe Strasser (drums). There’s a really nice chemistry going on with this group and we plan to record together soon.
For over 10 years my website’s calendar was powered by Sonicbids. Unfortunately, they pretty much orphaned all of their existing users when they updated their website in December. I’d really come to depend on their calendar (the only reason that I continued to pay for a membership there) but now all of that gig data is basically inaccessible. We’re still searching for a new calendar app for the website and are currently testing Reverb Nation’s calendar widget. Let us know how you like it.
